My name is Francine, and I love auctions. I have loved auctions for as long as I can remember.
Growing up in a small village in Europe, I remember my first auction. A farm was selling all their belongings, equipment and household stuff at auction.
Whether it was the sound of the auctioneer chant, or the smell of the food, or just the experience of seeing so many people in one place, it created a lasting impression on me.
When moving to Toronto in Canada as a young adult, I would scan the newspapers for auctions outside of the city and would furnish my apartment with what I bought. I still have my favorite Windsor Chair, bought for $ 2.00. My house is furnished with antiques, most of it bought at auctions.
Over the years I became involved with organizing auctions, from small silent actions for Charitable organizations, fund-raising auctions for sports organizations, to farm dispersal sales, and livestock auctions, from small auctions to province wide elite livestock auctions.
The first time I bought at an auction online was in the very early 1990s. We needed a large sound system and we priced it locally at between $1200 and $1700. We bought it at auction online for $300, we have used it extensively for years and it still looks like new and works like new.
